Trees Organic Coffee & Roasting House’s flagship Granville cafe is proud to introduce a new Open Mic Night happening Thursday nights from 8-10 pm for Vancouver’s rising stars to perform their hearts out! (Our regularly-scheduled Live Music Nights are still happening Friday nights, continuing to be hosted talented singer/songwriter John Pippus. New Open Mic Format. Same Great Coffeehouse Music Style
The Open Mic Nights on Thursdays will be hosted by local musician Ev, whose own repertoire is perfectly suited for the cafe music scene, with “intimate cabaret-like songs interwoven with catchy poppy/folky/soulful tunes and some darker introspective ballads.” Tom Barker of KJSF- FM called Ev’s musical style “a mix of Tori, Joni, and Ani. Original folk with a cabaret naughtiness and sass.”
How do you participate in the Open Mic? Here are the rules:
- Musicians and performers can start signing up at 7:30 pm. Ev will put out a sign-up sheet. First come, first serve!
- The musical showcase goes from 8-10 pm and each performer gets 3 songs, unless it is very busy; in that case, every performer will showcase 2 songs each. If there is time at the end, performers have the opportunity to play an additional song.
- Any genre is welcome, as well as stand-up comedy and spoken word!
